Chronic pain and psychological therapy
Individualised investigation of an online acceptance and commitment therapy for people with chronic pain
What is the purpose of the study?
Study looks at how people respond to online support programs for pain and stress management. The goal is to improve these programs and make them more helpful for those in need.
Who can take part?
Adults living with chronic pain and willing to complete an online psychological intervention.
What will the study involve?
Participants will take part in a five-week online psychological program for chronic pain, supported by a clinical health psychologist. During this time, they will complete eight online modules that include audio recordings, worksheets, and guided psychological exercises to help them manage pain and work toward their goals. These will take about 30 to 120 minutes per week. A psychologist will contact them every one to two weeks by email or phone to offer support and monitor their progress. They will also complete online questionnaires about their pain, mood, and functioning at three points: before the program, right after it ends, and again six months later. Additionally, they will answer short daily questions through an app before, during, and six months after the program. The entire program is online, so they can complete it at their own pace.
